Not all RFID tags are the same
 
   - Passive vs. Active vs. Semi-Active
   - Different radio frequencies
   - Different "in the air" protocols
   - Additional features beyond identification (memory, crypto, etc.)
 
EPC Global
 
   - RFID standards setting body for the retail industry
   - FKA, AutoID Center of MIT
   - RFID tags will track goods their entire life from
     factories to land fills
   - If successful, will create a world-wide standard
     for very cheap tags that can be used anywhere
